The Firewise Program is co-sponsored by the USDA Forest Service, the US Department of the Interior, and the National Association of State Foresters. Grants and financial resources are available to Firewise Communities.
We began our journey to becoming a Firewise Community on January 31, 2006 in a community meeting with our local fire officials and North Carolina Division of Forest Resources (NCDFR) rangers. The presentations we received were so persuasive that our homeowners made immediate improvements to their properties.
